Programme
As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a pan-India awareness and outreach programme will be held from October 2 to November 14. As part of the programme, a bike rally from the premises of Meghalaya High Court will be organised at 7 am on October 2, which will be then followed by a cleaning drive at Police Bazaar, Keating Road, Jail Road and Bivar Road.
Condolence
The R&R Colony Welfare Society on Wednesday organised a condolence meeting as a mark of respect for former Rajya Sabha member, Dr. BB Dutta. A statement in this regard informed that the meeting was attended by the locals and some well-wishers who spoke about the contributions of Dr. Dutta towards the welfare of the community. A two-minute silence was also observed.
Dry day
The Office of the South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) has declared dry day in district on Saturday on account of Gandhi Jayanti. In this regard, all liquor shops, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, C.A bars, C.S shops, canteens and outstills have been directed to remain shut.
Rabies Day
The Meghalaya Veterinary Association, Ri Bhoi, in collaboration with the Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Ri Bhoi, and the office of the Assistant Director Disease Investigation, Shillong, celebrated World Rabies Day 2021 on the theme ‘Rabies: Facts Not Fear’ on Tuesday. Anti-rabies vaccination at 11 villages within Ri Bhoi was conducted and a total of 281 dogs and 61 cats were vaccinated against rabies.
