SHILLONG, Oct 1: As part of the process to review implementation of various central schemes, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Prof. SP Singh Baghel, on Thursday, interacted with citizens and some implementing centres within the city, which are either beneficiaries or recipients of the various schemes.
The MoS visited the Health Dispensary at Rynjah to take stock of the implementation of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and COVID-19 vaccination, and learned from the patients that they had no complaints.
He then visited one of the beneficiaries of the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme at R&R Colony, Rynjah, for a brief interaction. Thereafter, he visited the beneficiaries of Swach Bharat Mission at Umpling.
The Union minister also visited the residences of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Scheme (PMUY) at Nongmensong.
He also visited a house of one of the beneficiaries under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban Meghalaya in Umpling. Interacting with the minister, the beneficiary expressed concern over the scheme as she had only received Rs 60,000 out of Rs 1.5 lakh. The total cost of building the house for the beneficiary is Rs 7 lakh.
The MoS then visited the Waste Recovery Center constructed by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) under Swachh Bharat Mission and interacted with beneficiaries of the project there. This centre is a localised waste processing centre and is operated by the local youths, who were earlier involved in collection and transportation of waste.
He also interacted with students of Martin Luther Christian University and Indian Institute of Public Service, who are interns with the SMB at the waste processing centre.
The MoS obtained and assessed the overall feedback from the beneficiaries in regards to various schemes as well from the implementing officials.
