SHILLONG, Oct 4: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) has appealed to the state government to convene a meeting with officials from the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and seek clarification if the reports of its office relocation to Guwahati are true.
Speaking to the media persons after calling on the Chief General Manager of NEEPCO, JN Singh, at his office chamber, KSU assistant organising secretary, Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, expressed dissatisfaction as they could not meet the CMD, even though the relocation reports were denied.
“It is important for the state government to take strong cognisance of this development since it will be a great loss to the state if NEEPCO decides to shift its office from here,” Sanmiet said.
Sanmiet said that as per their sources, all major decisions are being taken from Guwahati.
Informing that the Union will soon call on the state government on the matter, he informed that the relocation reports have left many locals employed with NEEPCO office here in limbo. “NEEPCO should make a clear statement to state government that they do not have any such plan,” Sanmiet added.
He also informed that the Union will continue to follow up the matter until they are convinced that NEEPCO office is not relocated to Guwahati.
