NONGSTOIN, Oct 12: Following the sensational case of alleged rape of two minor girls in a village in West Khasi Hills recently, a confidential video clip of one of the two victims, who were repeatedly ‘raped’ and ‘molested’ by their biological father, has come to light in which the untold horrors faced by the girls have been narrated.
This case from Porla village in Maweit is one of the latest to surface in the state in which the father, identified as Jeralwell Lyngkhoi, who also happens to be the headman of the village, has been charged with raping his minor daughters — one 14 years and another 12 years.
Based on the video which was recorded by the Rongrin clan and kept confidential, the 14-year-old revealed that her father raped her when he was drunk. She said that he started to molest her starting 2020, but after she complained to her mother about what had happened, the father apologized and committed to stop, but continued, nonetheless.
On another complaint made with the mother against her father, the latter apologized again but later went on to commit the same crime with the younger girl in the house, the 12-year-old, according to the clip.
The elder sibling, in the clip, also said that he has raped her several times in different locations including the field and the house. When she slept with her younger brother, the inebriated father would take the boy to another bedroom and then commit the heinous crime, according to the clip.
However, the mother did not speak up against her husband as she was scared of him, it added.
This scribe reached out to the cousin brother of the victims, H Rongrin, who is a member of the Rongrin clan which filed an FIR against the accused.
The cousin told this scribe that Jeralwell Lyngkhoi married his aunt, who is the youngest daughter of the family, and took advantage of her weakness.
It was also revealed that as a headman, Jeralwell was rude to the villagers and allegedly harassed them, especially when he was drunk.
The cousin also said that in two cases, Jeralwell has been accused of stealing cattle from a villager and timbers, which he sold for money but none dared to confront him.
It was also informed that the headman would allegedly invite minor girls to watch movies in his mobile phone during which he would touch their private parts.
The cousin brother, while expressing anger over the silence of the mother despite being privy to the matter, however, said that she confessed to the clan about being beaten several times whenever she stood against him. She was allegedly also threatened and told not to disclose to anybody the situation in their home.
The clan also said that the uncle, who was staying over with the family on October 3, had reportedly witnessed the incident firsthand and decided to take the two girls to his sister’s place. That was also the night when the father purportedly committed the crime for the last time.
It is reported that the father used to threaten the minor girls to take off their clothes when they sleep and would subsequently rape them.
“Such horrors narrated by the victims are totally shocking,” a member of the Rongrin clan said, while calling the father a “psycho only found in movies”.
Condemning the incident, the Rongrin clan has demanded of the Police department to not grant him bail reasoning that it would put the lives of the family members in jeopardy. They called for the accused to be punished with life imprisonment.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the accused has been arrested and thoroughly interrogated on his role in the crimes, Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills, HG Lyngdoh, said.
The SP has also stated that the mother and uncle of the minor girls were implicating with the case.
