SHILLONG, Oct 12: Intensifying their struggle to make the state government fulfil their demands, the SSA teachers under the banner of Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) Central Body went on a two-day mass casual leave on October 11 and 12 as a mark of protest.
The association has alleged government failure to address their grievances as the cause of the protest. Their demands include creation of posts and shifting of 12,541 SSA teachers from tate Implementation Society to State Education Department on regular basis as per provision of RTE/SSA Norms, implementation of pay structure and to enhance the salary of 12,541 SSA teachers, and disbursal of salary due for the month of June, July, August and September.
“As per inputs received from block and district Leaders, maximum numbers of SSA teachers across the state participated in the two-day mass casual leave protest (which) concluded today,” the association said in a statement.
Holding the state government “solely responsible for the educational losses due to the ongoing agitation”, the association has urged the government to fulfil their demands at the earliest.
