SHILLONG, Oct 13: HSPDP leader and PHE Minister, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, on Wednesday clarified that there are no official talks about him contesting the Assembly elections on a UDP ticket.
It may be mentioned that as per reports, Senior UDP leader Bindo M Lanong had claimed that Tongkhar will be contesting the next Assembly polls on a UDP ticket.
“It is not a big thing for Bah Bindo to claim that I will be contesting from UDP or HSPDP because during the last elections UDP had supported me. Plus, we have not discussed as such as of now and I am very much with the HSPDP; the only thing is that officially we are together and working as Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA),” said Tongkhar.
“We are close to each other and supporters who campaign with both the flags during elections,” he added.
Asserting that UDP, including other parties, may want him by their side, Tongkhar said, “As of now, I am very much in HSPDP and if only we could strengthen the regional party in Meghalaya — either by working together in RDA or having a pre-poll or post-poll alliance.”
