Better mobile network connectivity for Ri Bhoi village

SHILLONG, Oct 18: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), North East Licence Service Area (LSA), Shillong, on Monday inaugurated a 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) site of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, having a 40-meter Ground-Based Tower (GBT) at Jair village, Ri Bhoi, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
As per records, with the inauguration of the newest BTS site, the tally of covered villages with mobile signal has been increased from 4,818 to 4,819 villages.
“In addition to voice communication, this BTS will also provide high-speed wireless internet connectivity in the area surrounding Jair village. It will help in better delivery of citizen-centric initiatives through e-governance, e-health, online education, promotion of tourism, e-commerce etc to improve the quality of life of the villagers,” a statement in this regard informed.
