Cattle trader attacked and robbed in Garo Hills

TURA, Oct 19: A cattle trader from Bholarbhita village of Phulbari in West Garo Hills was left grievously injured and his money stolen by unidentified criminals in a remote village in Damal Asim area of Dadenggre on Monday afternoon.

The victim, Shahazamal Sk alias Elu from the plain belt region had gone with a substantial amount of money to purchase cattle from the hills when he was attacked near the village of Rongmasugre in Damal Asim.

The criminals attacked him with sharp weapons and were apparently aware of him carrying cash for the purchase of cattle. He was left with injuries on his body and had to be initially taken to Dadenggre hospital from where doctors referred him to Tura. He has since been removed to Guwahati for better medical treatment.

According to police, an FIR has been lodged and a probe underway but so far no witness has come forward. Police also expect to get more details once the victim is able to narrate the whole incident.
