TURA, Oct 19: Combined organizations from South Garo Hills on Tuesday began their protest over the poor power scenario in the district demanding that the grievances being faced by the people of the district with regard to power distribution by the MeECL be looked into at the earliest.

Earlier, the organizations had submitted a memorandum in this regard to the government which according to them has had no response despite the passing of a month.

On Tuesday, members of organizations which included the GSU, ADE, FKJGP, AHAM, GSMC and others kick-started their agitation by picketing the Revenue Collection Department as well as the Main Office of the MeECL.

The agitating groups are demanding among others the installation of 132 KV grid power supply tower line and the replacement of old and outdated transformers.
