KHADC collects Rs 4 lakh from issuing labour licences

SHILLONG, Oct 20: The Labour department of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has collected revenue of Rs 4.62 lakh from issuing of Labour Clearance Certificate (LCC) since February this year.
“So far we have issued a total number of 661 labour clearance certificates,” Executive Member in-charge Labour, Victor Rani, told The Shillong Times on Wednesday. Informing that the fees collected for each LCC is Rs 700 and the validity of the certificate is one year.
Out of the total 661 LCCs issued so far, 469 have been issued in East Khasi Hills (460 men and nine women), 98 in Ri Bhoi, 78 in West Khasi Hills and 36 in South West Khasi Hills.
Rani informed that 184 labourers working with different companies had sought for the LCC including 69 in East Khasi Hills, 102 in Ri Bhoi (94 men and eight women) and 21 in West Khasi Hills. He added that also individual drivers and drivers working with the companies had sought for the LCC.
