Parade to pay obeisance to police martyrs in WKH

NONGSTOIN, Oct 21: Police personnel of the West Khasi Hills District Executive Force (DEF) paid their respects to the police martyrs and corona warriors who laid down their lives in line of duty during the observance of a parade to commemorate the 62nd Police Commemoration Day, on the premises of Women Police Station, Nongstoin, on Thursday.
The programme was attended by West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Commandant of 4th MLP Battalion, In-Charge of Home Guard, Civil Defence, Nongstoin, and others.
During the programme, the Salami Party of Police Reserve, Nongstoin, gave salute to the martyrs and fired three rounds in the air.
The SP later read out of the names of martyrs who laid down their lives in the year 2021, following which police officers along with the SP laid wreath to pay respects to the heroes.
The Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 to remember and pay homage to martyrs for their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
