Guv pats MLCU for scholarship initiative

SHILLONG, Oct 23: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday lauded the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) for the latter’s scholarship initiative for students who are faced with financial hardships.
Malik, who was part of the 14th Convocation of the MLCU, expressed happiness over the fact that ‘COVID free scholarship’ for 100 students facing financial hardships was initiated by the University.
Deeming it a landmark in Meghalaya’s educational sector, the Governor, who is the Visitor of the University, said that such an initiative brings hope for a better future for many.
The Governor also commended the alumni of the MLCU for their achievements in different fields, especially in the CM’s E-Champion Challenge 2020 and the PRIME Meghalaya-CM Entrepreneurial Challenge 2020-2021.
Pastor of the Mawroh Presbyterian Church, Rev. Lyndan Syiem, who was part of the programme, touched upon the issue of unemployment and exhorted the graduates to help create jobs for others.
During the convocation, as total of 711 outgoing students were awarded.
