Heroin seized
The ANTF team of Nongstoin seized around a gram of suspected heroin and Rs 33.6 thousand in cash besides bottles of alcohol illegally being sold, from the possession of one Micheal Kharbani (27) of Urkali, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills. The accused was planning to sell the suspected contraband and alcohol in Nongstoin market area on a private car (ML 04 A 0988).
Cleaning drives
The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, office of the CEO of Shillong Municipal Board and office of the State National Service Scheme will organise cleaning drives at Rabindranath Tagore Art Gallery Brookside, Rilbong, on Tuesday from 10 AM; at District Research Office, Tribal Research Institute, Mawlai Nongkwar, on Wednesday from 10 AM; and at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex Shillong on Friday from 10 AM.
Event
The Department of Biomedical Engineering in collaboration with Department of Education, NEHU, will organise an international IBRO-APRC Associate School on ‘Modern Interventional Tools for Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders’ from October 25 to 30. The School aims to provide participants with extensive knowledge about modern interventional tools related to cognitive impairment in children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their improvement.
Prohibition
The Ri Bhoi District Magistrate has barred heavy vehicles from passing through Umling-Patharkhmah road. The order, effective from Tuesday, has been necessitated in view of the ongoing construction activities.
