SHILLONG, Oct 31: Taking Northeast India tourism in tandem with other goals, the 2021 edition of the India Week Hamburg (IWH) will be hosted form November 8 to 14.
The IWH is a biennial event organised by the city of Hamburg in Germany, which focusses on the continued shared goals of Indian stakeholders and promotion of the good relations between the Hanseatic City and India. A myriad of events are being planned, of which the Northeast India Tourism Promotion is one of them.
This was informed in a statement by the Indian Consulate in Hamburg.
The main daylong event will be held at the Consulate premises on November 11, and will be addressed by the Consul General, John H Ruolngul, and Laila Walter, Ministry of Culture, the Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
“Wonderful Northeast: Unexplored Paradise” is being curated by Zamans East India Travel Odyssey (ZEITO), the Danish firm led by an Assamese retired doctor, Dr Khafiluzzaman Ahmed.
In a bid to blend Northeastern music, Shillong folk fusion band, Summersalt, will have special shows at the prestigious Kampnagel Performing Arts center and at Hard Rock Café in Hamburg.
It will also include tourism presentations and performances from local Northeasterners present in Germany and Denmark.
A noted birder from Assam Abidur Rahman from Jungle Travels India, Guwahati, will also be presenting the birdwatching circuits.
B2B meetings with ZEITO are being scheduled for November 12. ZEITO had earlier catered to Danish and British guests to the Northeastern region.
Similar satellite events are also being held in Bremen on November 6, Hannover on November 12, Lubeck on November 13 in Germany, and in Horsens city on November 15 in Denmark.
The Consul General, Ruolngul, asserts that these events will put the Northeastern India tourism map high on the European focus.
