Synjuk calls on Deputy CM for expedition of 4-lane work in Mylliem
SHILLONG, Nov 3: The Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Upper Shillong along with Mylliem MLA, Hamletson Dohling, on Wednesday met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, seeking expedition of the construction of the four-lane road from Umshyrpi bridge to Bañiun in Mylliem. Speaking to reporters, member of the Synjuk, Marcos Shangpliang, said that they are concerned about the stopping of the four-lane road construction between Sawmer to Umshyrpi. Shangpliang said that the deputy chief minister has assured that he will try to ensure that there is no delay in the construction of the road as well as the laying of the water pipes through the land of the Forest and Environment department. According to him, the government needs to resolve some land issue with Kurkalang clan. The deputy chief minister said he will call a meeting with the Kurkalang clan to resolve the matter, Shangpliang informed.
Sales Emporium inaugurated
NONGPOH, Nov 3: The Meghalaya Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited on Monday inaugurated the Sales Emporium at the Auditorium Hall of the Commercial Complex, Meghalaya House, Russel Street, Kolkata. According to a statement, minister in-charge of Commerce and Industries, Sniawbhalang Dhar, inaugurated the Sales Emporium as chief guest in presence of Chairman of Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited, Sosthenes Sohtun, as the guest of honour. It may be mentioned that the Sales Emporium at Kolkata was set up and inaugurated by the MHHDC Ltd in a bid to promote local artisans and weavers of Meghalaya by enabling them to showcase and market their products.
Exhibition for schoolchildren, locals
NONGPOH, Nov 3: As part of the celebrations of Meghalaya’s 50 years of statehood and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the office of the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the Nongpoh Town Committee on Wednesday organised ‘Waste to Art Exhibition’ for schoolchildren and locals in Nongpoh. Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah, who attended the programme as the chief guest, appealed to the citizens from the district to ensure maintenance of cleanliness with a collective approach.During the day, prizes for ‘Best Waste to Art Design’ were bagged by various schools while the award for ‘Special Waste Entrepreneurs’ was bagged by Arjun Nongshli of Pahamsyiem village. Sanitary workers and waste collectors from Nongpoh were also felicitated during the programme.
