SHILLONG, Nov 5: The State Cabinet has decided to establish the Meghalaya State Veterinary, Dairy and Fisheries Science University, at Kyrdem Kulai in Ri Bhoi.
Informing reporters about this on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that they have instructed the concerned department to bring back the draft bill of the university and to work out all the details, while adding that they have also sought the financial implications of the decision.
“We will accord the approval once the draft is placed in the Cabinet,” he said.
According to him, this university will be set up in a location at Kyrdem Kulai since the Animal and Husbandry department has not less than 800 acres of land in the said area.
The deputy chief minister also told reporters that the Cabinet has discussed the proposal for setting up of National Law School in the state.
“The proposal was sent back since there is a need to fine tune the final draft for setting up of the National Law School,” the deputy chief minister said.
