Meritorious students feted in Jowai
JOWAI, Nov 7: Around 80 students who performed well in the SSLC, HSSLC and other higher-level exams were felicitated by the Jaintia Students Union in a grand function organised at the District Library Auditorium Mynthong, Jowai, in West Jaintia Hills, on Saturday. Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla was the chief guest on the occasion, while others who were present include Superintendent of Police of West Jaintia Hills, Bikram D Marak, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khliehriat, Jasan Mairom, Jowai Elaka Dolloi, Puramon Kynjing, among others. The JSU also felicitated renowned columnist and environmental activist as well as a church minister, Dr. HH Mohrmen, for his achievement of being awarded a doctorate degree by the Martin Luther Christian University.

JSU to operate SRWP ambulance
JOWAI, Nov 7: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) will operate the ambulance handed over to them by Jowai MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla, through the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) scheme in a bid to help the poor and needy in times of medical requirement, particularly emergencies. The ambulance was handed over to the JSU president, Jersome Shylla, on Saturday in the presence of the Superintendent of Police of West Jaintia Hills, Bikram D Marak, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Khliehriat, Jason Mairom, and others.

Webinar on advancement of maths
SHILLONG, Nov 7: A webinar was organised by the Statistics and Mathematics departments of Sankardev College, Shillong, on Saturday, on the theme ‘Recent Advancements in Mathematics and Statistics’. Head of the Statistics Department, North-Eastern Hill University, Prof TK Chakrabarty, Assistant Professor, Mathematics department, National Institute of Technology, Shillong, Dr Manideepa Saha, and Assistant Professor, Basic Sciences and Social Sciences department, NEHU, Dr P Khongjee were the resource persons for the webinar. The webinar was attended online by students and faculty members of different Colleges in Shillong. The inaugural programme was also attended by College Principal, Dr. Eureka FP Lyngdoh, and Head of the Department of Statistics, Evarilang Tariang, who spoke briefly during the webinar.
