Sawkmie against vehicular movement in PB thoroughfare
SHILLONG, Nov 9: Opposition Chief Whip, PT Sawkmie, has asked the Director General of Police R Chandranathan to disallow vehicles from plying through the heavily-congested thoroughfare of Police Bazaar. Sawkmie informed that the movement of vehicles through the busy commercial area has not only affected the hawkers but also the movement of pedestrians. “Till today, no untoward incident has happened but I urge the DGP to stop the movement of vehicles through the area,” the Opposition Chief Whip said, while terming the move as “harassment” to the pedestrians as well as the business community.
Natl Legal Services Day observed
SHILLONG/ NONGSTOIN, Nov 9: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) on Tuesday observed National Legal Services Day at Police Bazaar and Motphran.During the programme, pamphlets were distributed in a bid to disseminate awareness on Free Legal Services, Access to Justice, Women’s Right, Domestic Violence, Lok Adalat, PLV scheme, etc. In West Khasi Hills district, a similar programme was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Nongstoin, at Complex Market New Nongstoin on Tuesday in collaboration with Khmih Creative Society.During the programme, members of the Khmih Creative Society performed a skit and a song.
Course on coding & programming
SHILLONG, Nov 9: Shillong Science Centre, Innovation Hub will host a ‘Free 10-day Course on Coding and Programming’ from November 17. According to a statement, interested candidates from Meghalaya have been asked to join Facebook group ‘Innovation Hub, Shillong Science Centre’ and visit YouTube channel ‘Innovation Hub, Shillong Science Centre’ to gain access to live updates. “For assistance on registration and other queries, participants can call the helpline numbers +91-7005050398 and +917641826576,” the statement said. “For reasons that participants cannot attend the workshops on a particular date, preparations are made so that they may avail and gain access to the recorded files offline via YouTube channel of Innovation Hub, Shillong Science Centre along with the necessary study material via WhatsApp group to be formed prior to the date of commencement,” it added. The deadline for registration is November 15.
