GH police rescue kidnapped victim from Assam

TURA, Nov 14: Garo Hills police with support from their counterparts in Assam safely rescued a kidnapped victim during a special search and rescue operation late Saturday night.
The victim, Robiul Islam of Goalpara district in Assam, was abducted somewhere inside North Garo Hills on Friday and despite a search operation jointly launched by Assam and Garo Hills police in the suspected location of Gabil Bi’sa area, he remained untraced. Fresh information was received about the possible hideout of the gang in another location called Rongmil in East Garo Hills where the victim was said to be kept in custody by the criminals.
Following up on the new inputs, an investigation team from Assam arrived at Rongmil on Friday night and another operation was launched with Special Ops team from East Garo Hills Police leading the way.
The search operation led the police teams to the hideout of the criminal gang where the victim was held captive sometime around 9 PM on Saturday. With police closing in the criminals fled for their lives and released their victim at a place called Chikal Pekro under Rongmil police outpost jurisdiction the same night.
He was spotted by a police team and taken into safe custody while one suspected member of the kidnappers gang, identified as one Bronson Momin, was arrested for his alleged complicity in the kidnapping incident. Police operations are continuing to flush out the rest of the criminal gang who are on the run since their hideout got busted.
