KHLIEHRIAT/ MAWKYRWAT, Nov 25: The District Disability Rehabilitation Centre, Jowai, in collaboration with the office of the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner and the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, organised a ‘Mega Mela Assessment Camp’ for Persons with Disability (PwDs).
During the programme, the gathering was asked to disseminate awareness on the importance of vaccination against COVID-19.
East Jaintia Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, SS Syiemlieh, touched upon the importance of Aadhaar enrolment for availing various government schemes.
It may be mentioned that during the programme, 94 PwDs received the Unique Disability ID (UDID card)/Disability Certificate, 21 PwDs enrolled themselves for a chief minister’s scheme, five PwDs received the COVID-19 vaccine and 39 PwDs enrolled themselves for Aadhaar.
In South West Khasi Hills, a similar camp was organised during which PwDs were asked to avail benefits of government schemes and entitlements.
The programme, which was organised by the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, Mawkyrwat, in collaboration with the District Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, West Khasi Hills, was also attended by various health experts.
