TURA, Dec 4: Health authorities in South West Garo Hills have been asked to set in motion the preparations for vaccination against COVID-19 on election mode.
Following a meeting of the District Task Force on COVID-19 at Ampati on Friday, health officials have been asked to make a list of villages showing the number of vaccinated and unvaccinated people, and to identify the polling booths for vaccination drives as per requirement.
It may be mentioned that vaccination drives in South West Garo Hills on election mode have been slated for December 13 and 14.
Accordingly, another meeting has been scheduled for Thursday for further deliberations and planning on the vaccination drives.
Friday’s meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ch. Ramakrishna and attended administrative as well as health officials from the district.
During the meeting it was revealed that 86.6 per cent of the eligible population has been vaccinated with the first dose and 57.1 per cent have been fully vaccinated in the district.
However, expressing concern on discrepancy in the line listing and entry of vaccinated beneficiaries in the CoWIN App, the DC has asked the team concerned team to identify and rectify the discrepancy.
It may be mentioned that the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner had earlier informed of similar COVID-19 vaccination drives across the district.
