MAWKYRWAT, Dec 6: Former deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh was on Monday elected as the NPP Mawkyrwat Block unit president.
Addressing media persons after a meeting of the NPP, South West Khasi Hills, for election of its Mawkyrwat office-bearers, NPP South West Khasi Hills president, Kitborlang Nongrem, said that the party’s door is still open for former Ranikor MLA, MM Danggo.
“The door of the NPP is still open for Danggo; he can come back to the party because, in politics, we need all people, especially leaders like Danggo. Plus, as a party, we will be very happy if he comes back,” Nongrem said.
Touching upon the progress of NPP in Mawkyrwat, Nongrem said that many leaders from the district like Rowell and Enbin are shouldering the onus to take the party forward.
Exuding hope that the party will achieve many things in the forthcoming years, Nongrem said many leaders from Mawkyrwat are wanting to join the NPP.
When asked about the representation of candidates from Mawkyrwat and Ranikor constituencies during the 2023 Assembly elections, he said the Block Unit of NPP will take a call when the time comes.
Meanwhile, during the general meeting, former Mawkyrwat MDC Enbin Kharraswai was elected as working president of NPP Mawkyrwat Block Unit, Deling Snaitang and Remdor Shylla as general secretaries, Lamphrangton Lyngkhoi as treasurer, among others.
