Minister inaugurates two road projects in South Shillong
SHILLONG, Dec 13: Cabinet Minister and South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai, inaugurated two road projects at Lower Lumparing. The first is a 0.270-km road connecting Lumparing Road to Dong Skul, which is constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.12 crore and commenced on September 11, 2017. The second project is a 0.106-km link road connecting the existing PWD road with the old water tank at Lumparing worth around Rs 66.67 lakh. This project started on January 4, 2018. Speaking on the occasion, Shullai lauded the people who handed over the land free of cost for the projects, even as he urged the Dorbar to submit the list of all land owners who have donated their land for construction of the 380-metre road from Jackson Trace to Lower Lumparing which cuts the distance required to travel up to the locality. “I will like to felicitate all the land owners for their noble gesture to part away with their land,” the South Shillong MLA said.
Unclaimed body in Shillong CH
SHILLONG, Dec 13: An unknown male patient (35) from Nongmensong, BSF Road, Shillong, was admitted in Bed No. 21 of the Male Medical Ward-II, Shillong Civil Hospital, on December 9. He, however, passed away in the morning of December 10. In this regard, the Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Shillong Civil Hospital has requested concerned persons to collect the body from the morgue of the hospital within three days, failing which the body will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
Bio-fertiliser facility inaugurated
SHILLONG, Dec 13: With an aim to boost state’s agricultural sector, a new bio-fertiliser production unit was inaugurated in Upper Shillong by Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyndoh at a function in the State Biological Control Laboratory here. The production unit ahs beend dubbed as the first-of-its-kind facility to be set up in the entire North East. Speaking on the occasion, the minister informed that the department aims to reduce the supply-demand gap in the state by making optimum use of this unit, even as he encouraged qualified youths and entrepreneurs to partake in the production process and work hand in hand with the government. He added that the production unit is a milestone achieved in the way of making Meghalaya an organic state.
