SHILLONG, Dec 21: The All India Trinamool Congress, Meghalaya (AITC-M) is optimistic that the Assembly Speaker’s judgement on the two disqualification petitions against the 12 MLAs will be on the lines of its expectations.
“Since the whole exercise has been done in a manner which is in consistent with the mandate of relevant provisions of the Constitution, we don’t doubt or foresee or anticipate anything contrary to what we expect,” AITC-M stalwart Mukul Sangma told reporters on the sidelines of a pre-Christmas programme at the Old Assembly on Tuesday.
“I will not presume or assume anything. The relevant provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution will ultimately intervene when the Speaker delivers his judgement,” he added.
Congress Legislature Party leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh, along with four party MLAs, had filed the two petitions – the first against ten MLAs and the second against two MLAs.
