SHILLONG, Dec 24: As part of 50 years of India’s triumph over Pakistan in Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, a ‘Swarn Jayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra’ — a mobile photo exhibition — organised by the Border Security Force (BSF), reached the state capital on Friday after undertaking a strenuous journey of 1,400 km.
It may be mentioned that the mobile photo exhibition commenced on December 3 from South Bengal Frontier HQ Kolkata and covered a plethora of locations before receiving a warm welcome in Shillong.
The Yatra is being organised in a bid to inculcate a spirit of patriotism in youths and disseminate awareness on the contributions of the BSF and Mukti Bahini in the 1971 War. In Shillong, the Yatra at BSF Camp Mawpat witnessed quite a significant attendance of youths and general public. Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya, Inderjeet Singh Rana, was part of the event as the chief guest.
During the event, documentaries, videos and photographs of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971, depicting the role of BSF and Mukti Bahini, were screened. Furthermore, BSF Brass Band also performed patriotic songs for the spectators.
IG Rana, in his address, spoke about the role of the BSF in the 1971 War and paid tributes to the war heroes.
