SHILLONG, Dec 29: Ahead of the New Year celebrations, the East Khasi Hills police has resolved to tighten the security arrangements in the entire district. The decision has been taken in order to keep a check on road mishaps and cases of reckless drunk driving which usually become frequent during New Year celebrations.
Reportedly, steps to guard against these incidents have already been taken by the police here in Shillong. A police official recently said that adequate security arrangements are already in place and naka checking is also being conducted in different parts of the city.
Meanwhile, the New Year celebration is expected to be a low-key affair this time as no official programme has been announced by the government till date.
However, on the occasion, the Living Roof is arranging a party in collaboration with the Shillong Food Hub. The party which will involve food and drinks will take place from 5 pm to 12:30 am and will host performances by Gary Daniel and many more.
