Assam minister’s contacts test -ve for COVID

SHILLONG, Jan 7: All the close contacts of Assam Minister, Pijush Hazarika, who had visited Meghalaya this week to attend a meeting of one of the regional committees on border issue, tested negative for COVID-19.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, who was among attendees, said after receiving the news of Hazarika testing COVID positive, he and other officials immediately got themselves tested. All the reports came out negative, he said.
Hazarika had on Friday tweeted, “Yesterday I tested COVID positive. I have mild symptoms and I am in Home Isolation, following all COVID protocols and guidelines. Those who came in contact with me are requested to take necessary action accordingly.”
Tynsong said: “I have already tested through TrueNat and my report came out negative. We are responsible people. The moment we got the news, the circulation was made and mass testing was done.”
Stating that he does not have any hesitation and that he is doing his part by following all the laid down protocols, he said, “My mask is regular and I maintain (physical) distance. I have so far got myself tested at least 31 or 32 times.”
Some of those who attended the meeting include Chief Minister K Conrad Sangma, Chief Secretary RV Suchiang, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah besides Tynsong.
