State-level declamation contest

SHILLONG, Jan 7: As part of the upcoming Republic day celebrations, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Meghalaya, conducted a state-level declamation contest on ‘Patriotism and Nation-Building’ at Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, Conference Hall, on Friday.
Out of the seven Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) districts in the state, four, viz. East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi, participated in the contest.
As per sources, East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi districts were represented by Ibakordor Khriemmujat, Suzane L Nonglait, Lakyntiewshisha Tang and Melita Maring respectively.
Notably, Lakyntiewshisha emerged victorious in the competition while Ibakordor and Melita Maring secured second and third positions respectively.
The winner of this contest will, meanwhile, represent the state in the national-level declamation contest to be held before Republic Day.
