State reports 73 new cases; caseload at 328

SHILLONG, Jan 8: From 75 on January 2, the number of active cases in Meghalaya has now skyrocketed to 328 within a span of mere six days and similar to earlier instances, East Khasi Hills continues to top the tally with the most number of active cases even now.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya reported 73 new cases and seven recoveries on Saturday, which pushed the state’s tally of active cases to 328.
Out of the 73 fresh cases, 50 cases were reported from East Khasi Hills, 20 from West Garo Hills, two from Ri-Bhoi and one from East Jaitnia Hills.
According to the dashboard of the Meghalaya government, the state has recorded as many as 321 new confirmed cases in the last seven days out of the 13,290 tests. The positivity rate in the last week stands at 2.42 per cent. However, no death was reported on the day. The death toll stands at 1,485.
