TURA, Jan 11: In response to the numerous complaints lodged against illegal cattle rearing practices within Municipal Board areas, the Chief Executive Officer, Tura Municipal Board (TMB) on Tuesday released a notice prohibiting the illegal rearing of cattle (cows/pigs) within municipality areas.
In the official communiqué, the CEO stated that complaints have been pouring out from various areas of Tura against the nuisances caused by illegal cattle rearing in residential compounds within municipality areas. Therefore, to curb these concerns, the TMC has decided to take strict action against those engaging in the practice by imposing fine upon them, seizing the reared cows/pigs and selling them off through public auction.
The communiqué further stated that the TMB enforcement staff would be deployed to detect illegal cattle rearing in municipality areas and anyone found guilty will be met with appropriate action in compliance with the provisions of the Meghalaya Municipal Act 1973.
