SHILLONG, Jan 11: Meghalaya is all set to celebrate the 25th National Youth Festival on Wednesday along with the rest of country.
In Shillong, Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre is organising a programme at its centre in Quinton Road here in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Meghalaya.
State Director of NYKS, Atul J Nikam, Secretary, Ramkrishna Mission, Shillong, Swami Hitakamananda, and Centre In-charge, Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong, Swami Divyaswarupananda, will be present in the programme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the festival on Wednesday in Puducherry, via video conferencing. National Youth Day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great philosopher and thinker.
In view of the emerging COVID situation, the festival has been scheduled to be held virtually from January 12 to 13.
The inauguration will be followed by the National Youth Summit which aims to galvanize, ignite, unite and activate the youth towards nation-building, to unleash the true potential of our demographic dividend.
During the summit, youths will get an opportunity to express their views on current issues like environment, climate change, sustainable development goals-led growth, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, indigenous and ancient wisdom, national character, nation building et al.
