160th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda observed in Tura

TURA, Jan 13: The Central Puja Committee (CPC) from Tura on Wednesday observed the 160th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda paying rich tributes to the religious leader on the occasion at Vivekananda Point located in the town.

Members of the CPC along with the citizens, who also participated in the programme, paid their respects to the Swami in the morning and placed flowers at his picture frame. Leaders who spoke on the occasion dwelled on his life history and philosophies adopted by him.

In the evening, West Garo Hills Deputy commissioner Ram Singh attended the programme as the Chief Guest where he spoke at length about the Swami’s inspirational message to the youths for nation building. Stating that the greatest tribute to Swamiji would be when we all follow his teaching on a regular basis in our day to day lives, he urged youths to follow in his footsteps.
