TURA, Jan 13: The Constitutional Rights’ Forum (CRF) along with other organizations from South Garo Hills like the GSU on Thursday accused the members of the District Selection Committee (DSC) of indulging in manipulation, nepotism and favoritism in the recent recruitment of candidates to various posts, the vacancies for which were advertised on April 30 last year.

In their complaint addressed to the Meghalaya Chief Secretary, the forum said that vacancies for the posts of LDA, Clerk, Gram Sevak, Soil and Water Conservation Demonstrator, Sectional Assistant, Vaccinator, Grade IV, Game Watcher and Driver were advertised on the said date last year and the written examination for which was also held in the same year on November 20. The forum however, claimed that there was no transparency during the recruitment process and only those who are close to the members or politicians were selected for the various posts.

According to the forum, an RTI was filed with regard to the matter seeking various details but the same was allegedly not entertained by the PIO of the DSC.

“We had sought detailed information with regard to mark sheets and the examination papers of both the selected and unselected candidates, the reply to which was refused,” forum President Ricky D Shira said.

Stating that this was not the first time that such manipulation during recruitment has taken place within the DSC, the forum urged the Chief Secretary to immediately look into the matter.
