SHILLONG, Jan 12: Reports of relocating NEEPCO office from Shillong to Guwahati has again prompted the Khasi Students’s Union (KSU) to express its concern and register opposition against such a move stating that shifting of the office to Guwahati is unacceptable.
KSU president, Lambok Marngar, on Wednesday said that NEEPCO office should remain in Shillong even as he added that any move to shift the office will be an insult to the sentiment of the people of the state.
The KSU leaders had recently met NEEPCO’s Director Finance to seek clarification on the matter and the latter informed them that there is no intention to shift the public sector undertaking’s head office to Guwahati.
Stating that it is some officers from NEEPCO, who are trying to shift their base from Shillong, the KSU president said that the union will try to unearth the facts on the matter.
The union has also sought the intervention of the state government in the matter.
