SHILLONG, Jan 14: Peeved at government reportedly turning a deaf ear to the long-pending demands, the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASTOM) has decided to agitate in front of the Main Secretariat from January 17 to 21.
“We are left with no other option than to agitate since the state government has not complied with our frequent request to call us for talks to discuss on our demand. Four of our members will agitate in-front of the Main Secretariat,” FASTOM president, Kenneth Shadap, said.
Shadap also informed that the members of FASTOM will carry black flags on January 21 when Meghalaya celebrates 50th statehood day.
“We will again meet if the government fails to call us for talks to decide on our future course of agitation,” the FASTOM president said.
He added that they had demanded the upgrade of the existing government-aided schools to deficit schools.
