lives at risk by organising a cricket tournament in complete violation of the protocols. The party had alleged that over 250 people had gathered at the Police Parade Ground in Tura, almost all of them without masks.

Reacting to the allegation, Sangma said permission had been obtained from the respective deputy commissioners for the various programmes.
Asserting that protocols were duly followed at all the programmes, the CM admitted that there might have been one or two instances where the public attended but it was out of programme.
It may be noted that the CM had come under attack recently for participating in a programme at Batabari village under Rajabala constituency which was attended by a huge gathering.
Newly-elected NPP legislator Abdus Saleh had also attended the programme which was organised in violation of a recent order issued by the state government banning all kinds of official, public and political gatherings to arrest the spread of COVID-19.
Pictures uploaded by the CM on his official Twitter handle showed a large gathering attending the programme.
Sangma had also recently attended the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Weiloi Catholic Church and the pictures which he uploaded on his social media accounts showed a large number of people without masks attending the programme.
