Truck runs over Ri-Bhoi woman

NONGPOH, Jan 17: A woman lost her life after she was rammed by a truck, which was en route to Guwahati, on National Highway 6 in Pahamrioh near Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi district, on Sunday midnight.
The trucker reportedly fled the scene after the accident.  The woman, identified as Barihun Lyngdoh, a resident of Mawsyntai, was heading towards her home on her two-wheeler (AS 01 BJ 5904) but was hit by the truck at Pahamrioh around 12.15 AM.
On receiving the information, Nongpoh Traffic Police Branch rushed to the spot to conduct an inquiry. The body of the woman was later shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for autopsy and then handed over to her family.
