2nd phase of Covid vax drive concludes in SWGH

Tura, Jan 21: The second phase of two-day vaccination drive against COVID 19 on election mode in various parts of South West Garo Hills concluded on Thursday.

In an attempt to immunize majority of the unvaccinated population, District Administration in collaboration with Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, South West Garo Hills along with various line Departments successfully executed a special drive vaccination campaign in an election mode at selected polling stations and villages across the District on 19th and 20th January, 2022.

The vaccination drive witnessed a total turn out of 35%, wherein out of targeted 13,816 unvaccinated locals, 4,872 people got themselves vaccinated across the district during this special vaccination drive. 23% of teenagers who fall under age group 15 years and above received their first dose, where, out of 3,968 targetted beneficiaries a total of 919 got vaccinated. Meanwhile, 40% vaccination turnout has been recorded for those who fall under age group of 18 years and above, where 3,953 people were vaccinated out of targetted 9,848 unvaccinated adults.

Targeting the hesitant groups across the District, awareness campaigns were organised few days prior to the vaccination dates, where various Sector Officers actively took part in educating the masses on the beneficial aspects of immunization and cleared doubts regarding vaccination myths.
