State logs 406 new cases, one death

SHILLONG, Jan 22: The state on Saturday recorded 406 fresh COVID-19 cases while one more patient succumbed to the viral infection taking the total death toll to 1,496.
The active tally stands at 2,002 while 84,643 people have recovered from the viral infection including 185 on the day.
304 cases were reported in East Khasi Hills, 56 in West Garo Hills, 16 in Ri Bhoi, 14 in West Jaintia Hills, six in West Khasi Hills, three each in East Jaintia Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills, two in South Garo Hills, and one each in North Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
SWKH DC tests positive
South West Khasi Hills, Deputy Commissioner, Caramai Kharkongor has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the DC has asked all those who have come in direct contact with her and the high risk contacts to immediately quarantine themselves and observe the status of their health. In case they develop symptoms, they need to immediately inform the control room or consult a doctor.
It was also informed that the deputy commissioner will not be available at the office until her quarantine period is over and as advised by the doctor.
