Labourers assaulted in Shillong

Shillong, Jan 24: A group of labourers were allegedly assaulted at Dinam Hall here this evening. The labourers alleged that they were pitching tent in Dinam Hall when 20-25 boys came and started assaulting them with sticks and bamboo. Four of the injured persons were brought to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment

Meanwhile, regarding a separate incident of alleged assault of a non-tribal person, the Superintendent of East Khasi Hills (EKH) district today clarified: “There is a post going viral on social media about an assault on a person by non tribal miscreants at Golf Link area and that special hit squads have been formed to target tribal individuals.

“It may be informed that the matter has been verified and no such incident occurred. At the same time nobody has come forward to file any complaint.

In this connection, the general public are advised to refrain from forwarding any such misinformation without the proper verification of facts.”
