SHILLONG, Jan 23: New Friends Union (NFU) handed Meghalaya Police (MLP) a 47-run defeat in their Shillong Cricket Association Super Division match after play was reduced to 35 overs from the allotted 40 due to wet outfield conditions, here on Sunday. Meghalaya had earlier made the choice to field first after winning the toss, bowling out their opponents for 156 in 35 overs. Kevin Christopher scored a patient 36 that came in 57 balls. Steve Syiemlieh bowled a superb spell, picking up 4/15 from 7 overs for MLP. However, MLP lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 109 in 29.3 overs with Kumar Sewa (27) the only batter making any significant contribution. For NFU, Player-of-the-Match Bharat Gurung was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3/16 from his 6 overs while Raj Biswa took 3/25 in 7 overs.
