TURA, Jan 25: Continuing its efforts to improve its relation with the border population and to inculcate a sense of security among them, the 55 Bn Border Security Force organized a civic action programme along the Indo-Bangla Border area at BOP Dipulipara of South Garo Hills on Monday.
South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner F M Dopth was also present during the programme along with BSF officials of whom included, Commandant, 55 Bn, Sh K N Tripathi, Commandant, 100 Bn, Sh A K Tiwari besides others.
During the civic action programme, essential items like solar system inverter, non electric water filter, stationeries and sports items were distributed by the force to villagers of Silbari, Dabram, Dipulipara, Shibbari, Namchapara, Kapasipara, Netri, Damdama, Jankhol and Gasuapara.
Students and teachers of different schools from the border area, Nokmas and elders of bordering areas were also present during the programme.
Various items worth a total of Rs 5,96,398 were distribuited to approximately 200 border residents on the day.
