SHILLONG, Jan 24: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Mihngi Circle, on Monday, gave a 15-day deadline to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Pynursla C&RD Block to release the relief sanction to the two families who lost their houses in incidents related to natural calamity in 2019.
Talking to reporters, president of the HYC Mihngi Circle, Edmund Khongngai, said that the two families had sought the intervention of local MLA and Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, on this matter. “But sadly, till now the amount is yet to be released,” the HYC president added.
Alleging that the people who are members of the NPP are receiving the relief sanction amount immediately, Khongngai lamented the delay in release of the relief to the two families, who have been waiting for around three years.
“The two families do not have any contact with influential people who can help to get the money,” he claimed.
On the other hand, members of the two families revealed that the BDO of Pynursla C&RD Block has been asking them to update their bank account passbook from time to time.
“We are going from the BDO office to the bank and again from bank to the office for the past three years. But till now we are yet to get the amount,” Barikmen Tynsong and Monlang Khongwir from Mawkajem village in Pynursla said.
It may be mentioned that the two families lost their houses in a major cyclone incident in 2019.
As per the work order issued on November 25, 2019 by the BDO of Pynursla, P Khonglah, the state government has directed the concerned authority to deposit the relief amount to the respective bank accounts of Barikmen Tynsong and Monlang Khongwir.
According to the order, Barikmen was supposed to receive financial aid to the tune of Rs 1.19 lakh, while Monlang would receive an amount of Rs 5,200.
