Labourers assaulted in city

SHILLONG, Jan 24: A group of labourers was allegedly assaulted at Dinam Hall in Jaiaw locality on Monday evening.
Four labourers sustained injuries and were brought to Shillong Civil Hospital. They were discharged after treatment of their minor injuries.
One the assaulted labourers said they were pitching tent at Dinam Hall when they were assaulted by a group of around 20-25 people.
No arrest yet in
Lumdiengjri case
Police have been unable to arrest anyone involved in the January 20 assault case at Lumdiengjri.
East Khasi Hills SP, Sylvester Nongtnger said a case has been registered and police were still investigating the matter.

misinformation: Police
The East Khasi Hills SP on Monday said the police have taken note of a post going viral on social media about an assault on a person by non-tribal miscreants at Golf Links area in the city and that special hit squads have been formed to target tribal individuals.
“The matter has been verified and no such incident occurred. At the same time, nobody has come forward to file any complaint,” the SP said in a statement.
“The general public is advised to refrain from forwarding any such misinformation without the proper verification of facts,” the statement added.
