SHILLONG, Jan 24: The Nagaon Chess Club & Coaching Centre was officially inaugurated in the premises of ADP College, Nagaon, on Sunday with five-time Assam champion Santanu Borpatra Gohain being appointed as the chief coach of the club, as informed by the Assam Chess Club (ACC). The ACC further informed that the body will be providing support and cooperation for the development of the Nagaon Chess Club, which was inaugurated by head of department (Sanskrit), Raha College Dr Dijen Sarma, in the presence of the president of Nagaon District Chess Association, Paragdhar Goswami and International Arbiter & founder member of Assam Chess Club, Biswajit Bharadwaj among others. A blindfolded game of chess was also played between Assam champion Gohain and Nandan Buragohain to display the power of mental ability of chess players by which they can calculate and plan their moves even without looking at the chess board.
