SHILLONG, Jan 24: Royal CC handed Rangkynsai a 49-run defeat after play was reduced to 35-overs-a-side in a Shillong Cricket Association Super Division match, here on Monday. The match was reduced to 35 overs from the regular 40 following wet outfield conditions. Put in to bat first, Royal CC were bowled out for 132 runs in 33.1 overs after Player-of-the-Match Bippin Ray (34) Swastic Chettri (28) somewhat held the innings together. Ram Gurung bowled an excellent spell, finishing with figures of 4/20 from his 7 overswhile Sanjay Lyngdoh claimed 2/19. Rangkynsai were unable to build any substantial partnerships as they folded for a meager 83 in 21.5 overs to hand Royal CC a solid 49-run victory. Rommel Jyrwa was the highest scorer with 21. Bippin was in the thick of action once again, taking 3/42 from 6 overs while Sikander Kumar’s tight bowling saw him take 2/6 in 6 overs.
