City scribe passes away

SHILLONG, Feb 1: U Nongsain Hima reporter, Melquire Batlem Laitphlang passed away on Tuesday at the age of 32.
KHNAM legislator from North Shillong, Adelbert Nongrum, has condoled the death of Laitphlang who was also associated with the newspaper, The Sentinel. His funeral will be held at Mawkhar Presbyterian church cemetery in Mission Compound on February 2.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Press Club has condoled the demise of Laitphlang.
In a statement, the Shillong Press Club also extended condolence to the bereaved family.
“The SPC condoled his untimely death and prayed for the departed soul. We also expressed our condolence to his mother, sister and his relative that the Almighty will grand them comfort and peace during these difficult times,” the statement read.
