CM inaugurates Handloom & Silk Production Unit

SHILLONG, Feb 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the production-cum-training centre of NELA Handloom and Silk Production Unit at Mawkasiang, Umroh.
The inaugurated unit is notably India’s first ever Flying & Loom Training Center & Silk Production Unit and Meghalaya’s first traditional Silk Dhara production unit.
Declaring financial assistance worth Rs 10 lakh towards the upscaling of the production unit, the chief minister said that his government has always extended support towards the young entrepreneurs of the state.
He also added that entrepreneurship, as a profession, is the emerging sector for providing employment to the increasing youths of the state.
The programme was also attended by Mawrynkyneng MLA, Pynnaid Singh Syiem, Commissioner of Textiles, FR Kharkongor, Director, Sericulture & Weaving, CB Sangma and Proprietor and Entrepreneur of NELA Handloom & Silk Production Unit cum Training Center, James E Dkhar.
