Sordar Shnong in SWKH ‘assaulted’

MAWKYRWAT, Feb 2: A Sordar Shnong of 25 Mile village under Ranikor Civil Sub-Division in South West Khasi Hills sustained injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by the in-charge of Rajaju Battalion without rhyme or reason.
According to the Sordar Shnong, Braibis Wahlang, the incident took place on January 31 afternoon and at Iew Soh Langrin near Rajaju village when he was confronted by the policeman, who was reportedly in an inebriated state.
According to the Sordar, it was following this, he said, the cop beat him black and blue.
Wahlang also informed that following the incident, some youths had gone to the Police Station at Nonghyllam demanding explanation and compensation for the victim, but to no avail.
The Sordar has filed also a police complaint against the cop.
Meanwhile, reacting to the incident, the KSU Ranikor Circle has sought departmental action against the cop.
