Govt notifies relaxation of age limit for jobs by 5 years

SHILLONG, Feb 4: The Meghalaya government has officially enhanced the upper age limit to 32 years for general candidates and by another five years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for government jobs.
Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday gave his assent to the decision following which, Chief Secretary, RV Suchiang issued an office memorandum on Friday announcing the age relaxation.
“The upper age limit for entry into government service is hereby enhanced from 27 to 32 years i.e. a candidate must not have exceeded the age of 32 years on the first day of the year of advertisement. SC and ST candidates will continue to enjoy a further relaxation of 5 years over the upper age limit,” Suchiang said.
According to the office memorandum, the new upper age limit will be applicable in case of all categories of posts except for certain categories of posts for the Home (Police), Excise, Registration, Taxation and Stamps, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Prisons and Forests & Environment departments.
The Cabinet had, on January 19, approved the extension of the upper age limit for job aspirants by five years.
